Intersolar Europe 2026 is about to open. What new trends in photovoltaic (PV) mounting systems are worth noting?
From June 23rd to 25th, 2026, Intersolar Europe will be held at the Munich New International Exhibition Center in Germany. This is one of the world's largest PV industry exhibitions, attracting thousands of exhibitors and tens of thousands of professional visitors annually.
After several years of rapid growth, the European PV market saw a slight decline in new installations to 65.1 GW in 2025, but it remains at a historically high level. Germany added approximately 16.2 GW, bringing its cumulative installed capacity to 116.8 GW; Spain surpassed 50 GW, and France also set a new record of 5.9 GW. While market growth is slowing, niche applications such as agricultural PV and PV carports are growing rapidly, with their demand share rising from 12% in 2024 to 22%.
PV Mounting System Development Trends and Exhibition Visit Recommendations
Agricultural-PV hybrid mounting systems are being rapidly implemented. Elevated PV mounting systems raise the modules to 3 to 5 meters, allowing agricultural machinery to pass freely underneath. This niche market is projected to exceed $56 billion by 2031.

Vertical bifacial solar fences are also gaining attention. At the edges of pastures or farmland, vertically installed bifacial modules serve as fences without taking up much land. Sufficient space is left between fences, allowing agricultural machinery to pass through. This solution is particularly suitable for Northern Europe because vertical installation prevents snow accumulation and maximizes the utilization of oblique sunlight in the morning and evening.

Zinc-aluminum-magnesium (ZAM) coating materials are becoming increasingly popular. ZAM coatings offer 5 to 10 times the corrosion resistance of traditional hot-dip galvanizing, have self-healing cuts, are about 30% lighter than ordinary steel, perform well in coastal and high-humidity environments, and can meet the lifespan requirements of photovoltaic power plants for over 25 years.

Intersolar Europe 2026 will be an important window into observing new technologies and trends in photovoltaic mounting systems. With the continued release of demand for photovoltaic and energy storage in Europe and the expansion of niche applications, the mounting system industry is in a phase of simultaneous technological upgrading and market expansion.
